Hello!

The month of November is a little crazy with all the days off and half days we have! Rather than do a plan for just one week, I'm going to share with you what we'll cover throughout the month. Some topics will take more than one week or will be divided by a weekend because of the holidays.

This month we will.....

-compare groups with numbers up to 10
-keep practicing short vowel "a" and the word families -an, -at, -ap, -am, -ag
-learn the color words gray and purple
-study the first Thanksgiving, pilgrims, and native americans
-cook delicious Thanksgiving food!
-work on using punctuation, finger spaces, and descriptive attributes in our writing
-learn correct capital letter formation
-practice counting syllables in words and the number of words in a sentence
-match digits to sets of objects
-identifying capital and lower case letter pairs

I think that's about it! You can see we have a very busy month planned!

Friends and Family,

We had an AMAZING time on our trip today! We got to climb through an obstacle course, make our way through a soy bean maze, pick indian corn, go on a hayride, and learn about different kinds of pumpkins! We were able to take lots of pictures on the trip that I've posted on a private, online web album. If you would like the link to the album so you are able to see our pictures and print out ones that you like, please email me and let me know! I want to share as much as possible with you while protecting your child and family's privacy as much as possible. Email me at brittany.scullion@smyrna.k12.de.us if you'd like the link to our photo album!

Sorry I missed a week!

With Miss T taking over more of the classroom and general end-of-September craziness, updating the website just got pushed aside. I hope I didn't confuse anyone!

Next week's plan will be updated tomorrow :)

Hello Parents!

I know it's still early in a year, and you were all simply wonderful at bringing in all the supplies we needed to start off the school year on the right foot! A big part of being in kindergarten and learning how to share, honing fine motor skills, and practicing self control comes from art and cooking activities. To help us get started, we created a wishlist for some items. If possible, please consider donating any of the listed items to our classroom!

Our Wish List

Thank you!
Here is what's on the agenda this week:

Math: Numbers 4 & 5, using a "five frame" to show how many

Science: What is a tree? What are the parts of a tree?

Phonics: letters and sounds for Mm and Ss

Reading: What is a sentence? and the sight word: a

Writing: What is a label? Drawing a person and labelling with their name and a favorite object that starts with one of our letters.

Handwriting: capital F and E

Color: my favorite....GREEN! Try to wear green on Friday and bring a green item for show and tell!
Hooray! Kindergarten has a NEW teacher! She is the wonderful, fantastic Mrs. Hall! And the best part is that she's right across the hallway from us, so our friends who are moving away aren't going to be so far after all. :)

We are very excited to have her join our awesome kindergarten team! Ella, Ethan, Darryl, Avyn, and Toby are super excited to start meeting with their new teacher on Thursday.
